Luke 2:13-18 (MSG) 

“At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him. As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. “Let’s get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us.” They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.”

 

I. Do Not be Anxious About Anything

Philippians 4:6 (NIV) 

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

 

Matthew 6:25-30 (NIV) 

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”

 

II. Pray About Everything With Thanksgiving

Philippians 4:6 (NLT) 

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

 

Romans 8:32 (NLT) 

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

 

III. Fix Your Thoughts on Good Things

Philippians 4:8 (NLT) 

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

 

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) 

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

 

IV. Learn to be Content Whatever the Circumstances

Philippians 4:11-12 (NIV) 

“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”

 

Ecclesiastes 4:6 (NCV)

“Maybe so, but I say it is better to be content with what little you have. Otherwise, you will always be struggling for more, and that is like chasing the wind.”
