Matthew 6:9 (NIV) “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…”


I. God is able to meet my deepest need

A. God wants to reduce my stress

Jehovah Shalom

Judges 6:24 (NIV) “So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.”


B. God wants to forgive my faults

Jehovah Tsidkenu

Jeremiah 23:6 (NIV) “In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.”


C. God wants to heal my hurts

Jehovah Rophe 

Exodus 15:26 (NIV) “He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”


II. God is greater than my biggest problem

Psalm 148:13 (GNT) “Let them all praise the name of the Lord! His name is greater than all others; his glory is above earth and heaven.”

Psalm 18:31 (NLT) “For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock?”


III. God calls me to be part of His family

Ephesians 2:19 (NLT) “So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.”

Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV) “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”


A. Some blend in with the world

B. Some escape from the world

C. Some take God’s name into the world
