bound with them.”

LFA Prison Ministry

“For You had compassion on those in prison.”  Hebrews 10:34

 Our Vision

   • Sharing the Gospel with people of all backgrounds.

   • Reaching out to the hurting who are incarcerated in our local prisons.

   • Showing the love of Christ to those who desperately need to experience it.

   • Proclaiming that no one is beyond the reach of God’s forgiveness and redemption.

Prison Ministry Overview

Prison ministry is much more than going behind prison bars to preach to inmates. The prison community is a unique mission field that comprises not only offenders but the families they leave in the wake of their incarceration. The LFA Prison Ministry offers opportunities to minister in prison and in our community. Explore the different areas of the ministry below.

Kairos Torch is a ministry to youth 13 to 18 years of age who live in a juvenile detention center, building self-esteem of these youth and giving them a greater hope and plan for their lives, apart from gangs and crime. It begins with a three-day retreat facilitated by a combined effort of an ecumenical Torch Team and the facility ministry teams to provide for spiritual needs and lay the groundwork for the youth’s spiritual life during the term of the detention and beyond. The retreats are followed by a mentoring program, matching one to two adults with each youth.

At Redemption Church, we minister to individuals who are incarcerated at the Lawton Community Corrections Center (LCC). A meal is provided by volunteers from various churches, including LFA Singles Ministry. Individuals attend a worship service, life skills building courses, and a Bible study. Volunteers have the opportunity to build rapport and establish a connection with the individuals from LCC.
LFA Prison Ministry ministers to those who are incarcerated at the GEO Lawton Correctional Facility (medium security). We facilitate church services in the facility’s visitation room. Service includes a Bible-based message, worship, prayer, and encouragement. This is an awesome opportunity to minister to hearts that are open to the gospel.

The Prison Ministry partners with the Teen Challenge leadership and assists in teaching classes for the Teen Challenge residents. Our goal is to help them realize their need for and the benefit of making life-long decisions to surrender their heart and their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who can guarantee real change in the lives of these men.
